T . , May 22. was a lar £ e attendance, at the Midhiret public hall last night, where a. social and dance was held by the local members of the Liberal and Labor to celebrate the success of Mr. R. Masters at the recent by-election At supper time Mr. P. G. Harkness, who presided, referred eulogisticallv to Mr Masters' services, and as a 'token of their admiration of the manner in which he had fought the election, presented him with a case of pipes. Mrs Schumacher, on behalf of the ladies presented Mrs. Masters with a silver dinner gong: Mr. Masters replied, thanking all for their kind expression of appreciation, and also for the splendid manner in which Midhirst had supported him at both elections.
. Sergeant-Major T. W. Henderson, who w well known in the district, has received a notification from the Minister of Defence congratulating him 011 having been awarded the Medaille Militaire
