ADOINGTON STOCK MARKET. Chrlstchurch, May 19. At the Addington market to-day theTe were smaller vardings of fat stock than last week. Prime mutton showed the healthy tone that has marked recent Bales, and there was little alteration In recent values for prime beef, but inferior beef was a dm?, ami lower prices had to be accepted for light mutton. Store sheep—There was a goo<V entry, mostly ewes and wethers, with a good proportion of Chatham and Southland sheep. At the commencement -of tho sale backward wethers were In weak demand, but all other classes were much the saime as at preceding sales, witii forward lambs firmer. Forward lambs 20s to 23s lid; ordinary lambs 15s Gd to 19s Gd, cull lambs 12s 6d to 14s 3d, ewe lambs 23s to _3ss; two. four, six, and eight-tooth ewes 25s Gd to 30s; inferior two; four, and six-tooth ewes 25s (id to 28s; Inferior two, four, six, and eight-tooth ewes 19s to 255; two-tooth ewes 2f*s Id to 27s 2d; pood four, sir, and eight-tooth wethers 29s to 33s Cd; ordinary four. six. and eight.-tooth wethers 26s to 28s; pood two-tooth wethers to 30s 6d; other two-tootli wethers, 2."s to 28s. Fat lambs.—A slightly smaller yarding than at recent sales Freezing buyerß were operating freely. Extra prime lambs brought to 345; prime lambs 27s lid to 32s Cd; medium lambs, 25s to 27s Cd; inferior lambs 21s 6d to 24s 9d. Fat sheep.—There was a. noticeable easing in values of li&rhi ewes, hut for prime tho market was on a par with last week's. Freezing buyers operated to a fair extent. Extra prime wethers 47s to 59s Cd; prime wethers 38s Cd to 45s Cd; medium wethers 34s to 38s; lighter wethers 28s Id to 33s 6d; extra prime ewes 475; prime ewes 36s to 43s fid; medium ewes 31s to 355; lighter ewe* 22s 1 to 295. Dairy cattle.—Cows, fourth calvers, up to £23; good heifers, up to £18; Inferior cows, up to £l2; small and inferior cows, £5 to £7 10s. Vealers.—Runners, to £7 ss; good vealers, £5 17s Cd to £C 10s; unedium vealers, £2 7s 6d to £2 17s Cd; calves, small, 8s to 37s Cd. Fat pigs.—A good entry, the market showing a weakening demand. Choppers, £6 to £9; light baconers, £5 to £5 15s; heavy baconers, £6 10s to £7; extra heavy baconers, £8 to £8 lis (average price per lb to lOd); light porkers, £3 5s to £3 15s; heavy porkers, £4 to £4 10s (average price per lb, lOd to 10^d). There seems no reason to anticipate other than a firm market dxiring the winter and early spring. The freezing works are expected to resume operations within a week or so, when it is hoped that everything now ready will be absorbed. Mutton has been In very fair demand. Turnip cattle are meeting with poor competition. Owners are for the greater part disposed to sell. Tho dairy cattle branch h very much brisker; wherever clearing -ales have been conducted results have been most satisfactory.
