LOANS FOR SOLDIERS.
A REBATE ON INTEREST. A suggestion that a rebate on interest payable by returned soldiers in connection with Government loans ghould be made on similar lines to grants from the .State Advances Office was recently " tl MP Government Mr. S. G. A reply has now been received from the Hon. D. H. Guthrie (Minister in charge of the settlement or ev-soldiers) stating' that an Order-in-Council wag made last week authorising a rebate being allowed to discharged soldiers to the amount of ten per cent, on the interest portion of the men's instalments, due on transactions under Section '2 of the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act. Amendments to the regulations includmg provision for this concession are now being made.
