Sydney, May 21.—Maheno, at 1 p.m., for Auckland. AT THE PORT. There were no movements of vessels at the breakwater yesterday. RARAWA'S TRIP ABANDONED. Owing to the Manukau Ear being still unworkable yesterday, the Rarawa was not able to leave for New Plymouth. The Northern Steamship Company advise that the trip has been cancelled, and the vessel will not now arrive here until Tuesday next. THE GALLIC. Advice lias been received by the local agent for the S,S. and A. line of steamers that the Gallic left Brisbane on Thursday morning, and should reach New Plymouth by Monday afternoon. THE CORINNA. The Corlnna Is now timed to sail from Wellington on Tuesday with general carco for New Plymouti SAN FRANCISCO SERVICE. TO BE RESTORED WITH OIL-BURNING STEAMERS. It has been decided by the Union Company to restore the Sydney-San Francisco shipping service, which, owing to the war and the requisition of the company's steamers by the Government, had to be discontinued. The service will be resumed by the steamers Maunganui and Tahiti, and tile route will be via Wellington, ltnrotonga, and Tahiti The first vessel —the Maunganui—will leave Sydney on November 25, and thereafter a regular monthly service will be run Conjointly with the restoration of this service it was ani nounced by tlio Union Company at Sydney last week that an oil supply depot Is to be erected adjoining the company's depot at Ball's Head, Sydney. The steamer Niagara, of the company's Vancouver service, burns oil; the Makura, of the samo line, is to be converted to oil Immediately, whilst the Tahiti and Maiinganui are now being converted to oil fuel at San Francisco and Port Chalmers respectively. Notwithstanding the great shortage of '. the company anticipates no difficulty in obtaining adequate supplies, and arrangements have been made for the importation of regular consignments. The first shipment is being brought to Sydney bv the steamer Waitemata, which left Sau Francisco on April 28 with 1000 tons stored in her ballast tank. The Union Company's hulk Adderley is_ being converted into an oil-store ship at Wellington lor the replenishing of fuel supplies at the <jfid of the route.
