NOTES ON THE RACING. (By Telegraph.—Special to Daily News.) Wanganui, Last Night, All started In the ■ .'ntng event, the Borough Handicap, and ct .ic ten, Kinsem ami 80-Peep were sorted out as the goods in a fair betting race, the fowner carrying a hundred pounds more than 80-Peep. Blndie, Ruddy, and Matatane wero the best supported of the others. They moved off pretty well together, Kinsem and Miss Gold being out in front of Jutland and Bindle, with 80-Peep end* Lady General in the rear. Crossing the top Egmont Park and Matatane moved up, and the order as they turned Into the straight was Miss Gold, Kinsem, Egmont Park, Matatane, Bindle, Ruddy, and 80-Peep. At the distance Egmont Pari; and Ruddy throw out a challenge to Miss Gold, who, however, went on to win by a neck from Egmont Park, with Ruddy a head away. Kinsem was close up fourth, being followed by Lady General, who did not I move off too quickly, 80-Peep, and Bind!©.' Both dividends were of very nice proportions. | The Hack Steeplechase provided a great race between two horses. Luke was a hot favorite, carrying nearly twice as much as First Call, Ngakanul, and Sir Donald. First Call set out early to make the pace, leading over the first brush .fence from Cheddar, Silent Dick, and Master Webster. Coming into the straight and passing the stand, Sir Donald was up with First Call, Silent Dick, Master Webster, Ngakanul, and Luke following, in that order. Going across the top Sir Donald held the advantage over Silent Dick, Ngakanul* and Luke, and tills was the order in which they took the last obstacle. In the' run homo Ngakanul and Sir Donald had a set to, the judge being unable 'to separate them. The favorite was four lengths away third, I Silent Dick was fourth, and Cheddar, Master: Webster, and First Call were the next to kn-iah. Neflsehe lost hla rider.

| There were a big lot of seratchlngs in the W anganul Steeplechase, the pen being pin through the names of Master Strowan and Gang 'Awa (both held up In the South), Old Mtinglndi, Yankee Jack, and First Call, leaving a field of seven. I'unters found a favorite in Maraetotara, but thero were only 27 tickets between her, Gladfui, and Wlrokino Polthogue was fairly well supported, and thero v,as not. mueh between First Lino and Silenus First Line and Polthogue were in front leading out of the straight from Silenus and n irokino, but coming past the stand again the order was Wlrokino, First Line Maraetotara, Polthogue, and Gladfui, with Silenus last. Along the back rolthogue ran'up to ' !rat IJn e »'»1 entering the straight the second timo the pair were practically on terms, with Wlrokino, Maraetotara, and Manhattan next. At the sir furlong pog Maraetotara ran into second berth behind First Line, Wlrokino being third, and Manhattan and Polthogue next in order. A bad jump at the half-1 mile, where Polthoguo came down, saw Marao. totara. lose its position. Turning for home First Line was n couple of lengths ahead of Wirokino and Manhattan, and Gladfui, Maraetotara and Silenus were well back. First Line prevailed in the run to the judge, beating Wlrokino by Ave lengths, with Gladfui two and a half lengths away. The next to finish were Manhattan, Maraetotara, and Silenus Lochella, Applaud, and Student were the defections from the Kaitoko Hack Hurdles leaving nine runners. Toa Tere was a better favorite than Negambo, 'Cello, Vlgllo, Cold' Soult, and Master Boris. 'Cello. Banogue -Negambo and Master Boris was the oixier out from the starter, tut passing the stand vlgllo was acting as pace-mate to Banogue Negamo, 'Cello, and Master Boris At the three-quarter mile post Master Boris had run to the front, leading 'Cello, Vlgllo, ami Combustion. Coming into the straight Master Boris was in front of 'Cello, Paddington Green, Vlgllo, Combustion, and Toa Tere At the dlstanco Paddlngton Green challenged Master Boris and beat him by half a length with 'Cello five lengths away third, Vlgllo was fourth, Combustion fifth, and Toa Tere last. Gold Soult was left at the post and Negambo baulked.

_ Want and Luperino were the withdrawals trom the Century Hurdles, leaving eight to face the startor. Omaliu was always favorite carrying nearly five hundred more tickets than Lochella. Coldstream was another backed to the extent of four figures. Lord Nagar and Zeus were conspicuous at the end fence In the straight, Oraahu, Zola, Kami King Goldstream and Lochella being placed in that order. The two leaders held their position along the back, Lochella, Goldstream and Kauri King closing up, with Zola and Applaud last. Zeus was first into the straight the second time, leading Oinahu. Lochella, Lord Nagar, Zola, and Kauri King. Zeus still was in the van round the back from Lochella and Omaliu, but Lochella passed Zeus at the ton bend and was three lengths In front of Omahu Zeus, Lord Nagar, and Goldstream. Safely over the Inst fence, Lochella had the race in hand, and only had to go on to win from the favorite by three lengths, with Goldstream about fifteen lengths away third. Kauri Kta£ was close up fourth, Zola and Applaud being the only others to finish. Zeus fell at the last fence and brought down Lord Nagar, Hunt (the ilder of the former), being badly hurt.

Ail started in the big flat race, the Connolly Handicap, the favorite being Rude, which carried a deal more than Punka and Maioha there being money also for Simon, Marqueteur'' Depredation, and All Over. When they were let go Simon and Detroit went to the front and led out of the straight from Depredation! Maioha, All Over, Murqueteur, and Rude. There was a little alteration at the back Maioha running into second place, while Simon got chopped back to last. Maioha and Detroit led Into the straight from Rude, Punka, and a bunch, but at the bottom of the straight Rude came through, while Gray brought Marqueteur on the outside, a fine race ensuing between the pair, Maraueteur getting up to win by inches. Punka was close up third, and was followed hoMe bv Depredation Maioha, Detroit., and All Over, with Simon last Scratchlngs in the Purua Hack Handicap left fifteen runners, and of this batch Tame Fox was a better favorite than P.ebuff, Crueelie I'enona, and Mimlrl. The start was a wretched one, Itekapoto, Pejiona, and Miss Love being badly left. Farce, Flight Commander and Passln' Through was the order suing out C.r the straight. but across the top Tama Fox moved up and was first. Into the straight from Miss Land, going on to win hy a length with Passln' Through two tind a half lengths -away third. Mimlrl and Crucelle were next.
