SIR JOHN SALMOND WELCOMED. By Telegraph —Press Association. Wellington, May 19. Sir John Salmond took his seat for the first time as judge tof the Supreme Court this morning, and was officially welcomed, and congratulated by the Wellington Bar. The' courtroom was filled with members of the bar and magisterial bench.

Sir John Findlay, KG, expressed on behalf of the Wellington Law Society, Indeed on behalf of the whole of the legal profession of New Zealand, plealure at Sir John Salmond'g appointment. He was given double cause for .'ongratulation because the profession recognised that the Supreme Court Bench, for months, and indeed for years, l*d been greatly overworked, and they lad now the gratification of seeing the appointment of one of the most eminent jurists.
