NEWTON KING'S REPORT. At Stony. River I report a full yarding oT botii sheep and rattle, all of the former and practically the whole of the latter dinning hands at the hammer. Weaners sold at a slightly improved tone, hut otherwise late rates prevailed. Mixed weaner steers 2Cs, , good Shorthorn weaner steers £2 10s, mixed weaner heifers £2 12s to £3 12s, Jersey weaner heifers £0 30s, store cows £5 to £7, 20-month empty heifera £5 7s, pedigree milking Shorthorn in-calf heifers 10% to 10 guineas, springing heifers £lO 10s to £l3 lfls, dairy cows £ls to £l7, pedigree milking Shorthorn ditto £5 5s to £lO 10s, lambs 14s 2d to 15s lOd, mixed aged ewes In laimb 20s Gd to 2iis fid. A dairy herd sold on account of Mr. D. Illckford averaged £l4 Bs, top prices ranging from £l7 to £l9. At Hulrarigl, on the loth , I conducted a clearing sale on account of Messrs. Frederickson, everything being quitted at satisfactory ■prides, the principal quatationa being as follows: Six-year maro £l4, 4-year gelding £lB, 2 to 2%-yenr Jersey in-ealf heifers £ll 10s to £l4 10s, Shorthorn ditto £B. At Urenui, on 10th Inst., a small yarding sold at late rates throughout. We had a good yard-, ing of cattle. Competition for all classes ! of steers was very dead, hut heifers sold l well tip to previous rates. The following are! some of the prices realised: 20-month steers i £2 15s to £3 ins, weaners 36s to. 495, 20-' month empty heifers £4 13s to £fi Is,. weaners £3 4s, springing heifers £lO, Incalf heifers £fi 19s. At our Matnu sale, on Monday. May 10, we had a good yarding of sheep and cattle, but competition was not keen. The following prices were.realised: 2%-year empty heifers £7 Is, In-calf heifers £8 12s fid, 2-tooth wethers 24s 4d, f.m. empty ewes (small lines) 15s On Tuesday, May 11, we held our usual fortnightly sale at our Stratford yards, The day was very wet, and we had a noor yarding. On Friday, Mar 14. we held our usual monthly sale at Te Wern. where we had a good yardintr, but competition was dull The following prices were obtained: In-calf heifers £8 10s, cows and calves £4 18s 6d. empty heifers £3 19s to £B, 20-month steers £4 6s, cull lambs, small Gs 3d. AUCKLAND STOCK MARKETS. The NZ. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. report:— At Westfleld store cattle sale, dairy cows sold under keen competition. Best is 1C t< £25 10a ; young sound cows, backward £ll to £ls 10s, others £7 to £lO 15s. Store cattle were dull of salo. Calves £2 to £2 ss, yearling to 18-months heifers £3 15s to £4 ss, yearling to 18-months steers to £4 10s.. two, to 2%-year steers £4 15s to £6 12a Gd, heifers, suitable for dairying purposes £6 10s to £9 ss. At Tukekohe on Friday, we held a special daliy sale. Best dairy cows £ls 10s to £23, others £lO to £l4 15s, aged and backward £4 upwards, heifers best. £l4 to £}S 10s, others £ll to £l3 sg. heifers duo in spring £7 to £lO 15s, inferior and small ,424 10s upwards. At Pukekohe, on Tuesday, we report a pood sale for dairy and fat cattle, whilst yearling to 18-months steers and heifers showed a s.'iplit improvement, on late sales. Best dairy cows and heifers £IG to £fair young cows £l2 to £ls ss, others £7, to £ll 10s. Beef, In scarcely average numbers, vkl well. Steers to £lO Iss, cows ami heifors to £l3 10s. Calves best £1 l".i to £2 10s, others 15s upwards. Yearling to 18-months heifers £2 15s to £4 10s, ditto • steers £3 5s to £5 10s, two to 2%-year steers £5 15s to £7 ss, heifers due in spring £5 10s to £9 12s Gd, empty cows and heifers £4 to £7 ss. At Westfleld fat stock mtiTket prices were again easier. Choice ox sold to £2 9s per 1001b. prime ox £2 5s to £2 8s per 1001b. inferior and rough £1 18s to £2 4s per 1001b. Cow and heifer beef £1 18s to £2 7s per lOOlb. Steers sold at from for best £l6 to £l9 15s (no extra heavy weights were yarded), others £l2 to £ls 17s Cd, inferlorly fatted £7 2s Gd to £ll 17s 6d. An average yarding of pigs were slightly better than last week, the market easing as the sale progressed. Baconers £4 5s to £6 7s Gd, porkers £3 to £4 4s. Lambs sold under steady competition at late quotations. No extra heavy prime lambs were penned. Heavy prime lambs £1 8s to £1 12s, medium £i 5s to £1 7s 9d. light £1 2s to £1 4s 9d, small and unfinished 15s to £1 la 9d.
