Both the Presbyterian and Methodist j General Assemblies are confronted with It serious shortage of men offering for the Ministry. One of the chief causes j is «aid to be the war, which besides] drawing students to the front, interfered with the training of othew. As regards Presbyterians, if wis stated the war had broken the churchgoiHg habit of many young men. The -flMtel and physical strain of the war yetrs had also caused exhaustion and a consequent loss of Ministerial candidates, but it was hoped the lost ground would soon be recovered. The Methodist Conference decided to meet the shortage by importing from England thirty-five ex-service theological unmarried students- As regards an faatnigration bureau it was decided to leek the co-operation of other churches In the scheme, including a possible arrangement with the New Zealand Methodist Conference-
