Thames dockers refused to complete loading aeroplanes, guns, and ammunition on tho steamer Polly George when they learned they were destined for Poland for use against Russia. The owner* agreed to discharge the munitions andC accept only general. cargo, and the dockers then resumed.

The South African Assembly, by OB to 47 votes "ranted leave for the in'troduetion of a private Bill extending the franchise to women. General Smuts, while strongly in favor of the principle, said it was desirable that the matter should b» dealt with on non-party lines, therefor# the Government could not father the Bill. He urged the House to give the Bill a chance.
Giving evidence before a select committee of the Australian House of Represcntatives on sea carriage, the sec* rotary of the' Commonwealth Steamship Owners' Association stated that the increased cost of coal and wages since the Commonwealth requisitioned interstate ships in 1918 amounted to a million annually.
