ACTION OF TARANAKI BOARD. i At yesterday's meeting of the Taranaki Education Board, tlie Technical Committee reported as follow: That Miss Doris Clarke be appointed dressmaking instructress in tho New Plymouth Technical College at a salary of £l7O to £200; that the appointment of a general instructor in the New Ply. | mouth Technical College he left in the hands of Air. Trimble with power to act; that Mr. George Ernest Reed be appointed woodwork instructor in the Hawera Technical High Schools, and the surrounding schools at a salary of £IBO to £220 by annual increments of £2O; that the desks applied for by the Director of the Hawera Technical High School be supplied; that the Director of the Hawera Technical High School be requested to renew his application for engineering apparatus when the Technical building is nearer completion; that application he made to the Department for a grant for the chemical apparatus submitted by the Director of the Hawera Technical High School; that the desks applied for by the Director of the New Plymouth Technical School for the cookery room be supplied; that th« agricultural instructor be informed of the Board's objection to plant box thorn about the school grounds, and he bo asked to recommend some more suitable plant; that the whole matter of the supply- of hedge and ornamental plants " be referrad to tho chairman of the Board and the chairman of the Technical Committee with power to act. The report was adopted. It was resolved that the contractors for trie Stratford Technical High School building be informed that the Board does not admit it has any liability on account of alterations which may have taken place in prices since they tendered for the work, but, after the contract is completed, the Board will consider any claims which they may wish to make in consequence of any increase which may have taken place in the cost of timber and cement over and above the prices on which they based their tender, and, if it is satisfied they have a just claim, will ■forward it to the Education Department for consideration.
