BOROUGH LOANS.

BOTH PROPOSALS CARRIED. A SHALL POLL. There was very little apparent Interest in the polling yesterday on the proposals of the New Plymouth Borough Council to raise special loans of £72,000 for hydro-electric extensions, and £57,000 for streets and footpaths. All the arrangements of the Returning Officer (Mr. R. Day) were complete in every respect and worked smoothly.

The results came to hand from the various booths soon after the hour for closing the poll, and the final result was announced before eight o'clock, both proposals being carried by substantial majorities. The poll was a small one, only 903 electors going to the booths. Following are the details of the voting:—
