TO-NIGHT'S TOURNAMENT AT HAWERA. Ovrin; lo unforeseen circumstances, Ted TJrem is unable to fight Oliver to-night, at Hawera. His place has teen taken by Jack Kecnan, of Auckland. Keenan, who is in the pin!; of condition, is well known as one of the most scientific and forceful ficlitcrs in the Dominion. His most recent fight was at Blenheim last month, where he fought Leu. Robinson for the championship, the decision being a draw. Oliver, who will oppose Kcenan. has trained steadily, and is In tip-top fighting form. There is keen rivalry between' these boxers and spectators will be treated to a ding-dong battle from gong to gong such as has never before been witnessed in Hawera. The Hawera. TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. A committee meeting of the Taranakl Boxing Association was held last night, when it was reported that matters are progressing well in connection with the tournament which is to be held in the Empire Theatre on May 26th and 27th. The principal In the professional bouts are engaged In active training, and good contests should be. witnessed each evening. Medals have been donated by residents of the town for each of the six amateur bouts, nominations for which close with the secretary (Mr. E. Clarke, Box 28, New Plymouth) on Thursday, May 20. Mr. Tim Tracey, the well-known, boxer, will act as referee.
