IMMIGRANTS FROM HOME.
TOTAL OF Z351 THIS YEAR. 1000 COMING THIS MONTH. By Telesraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A return furnished by the Immigration Department to the Prime Minister shows that for the first four months of the present year 1351 immigrants ar* rived in New Zealand. This number does not, of course, include returning soldiers and war workers. i For the present month the number of immigrants will probably be 1000. Mr. Massey said that most of these were "nominated" by friends or relatives in this country, and such immigrant* were of no concern to the Government, as they had all friends to go to for advice as soon as they arrived. { Of the immigrants who have arrived, 141 of the men have come out under the Imperial Government's scheme for assisted passages to ex-service men. There are still a very large number of New Zealand war workers—those members of the New Zealand colony in England who did so much for the soldiers during the war—remaining in England, and desiring to come out to New Zealand when opportunity offers.
