STRATFORD BY-ELECTION.
MR. MASTERS' MAJORITY REDUCED. FINAL FIGURES TO-DAY. The official count of the votes cast at the Stratford by-election (excepting the absent votes), has been completed, and although the official figures will not be available until to-day, it is understood that Mr. Masters' majority has been reduced from 152 to 121, the difference being mainly due to an error in counting the total. The final figures, including the absent votes, will b'e issued to-day, and the declaration of the poll will be advertised to-morrow. Mr. Masters' work in educational matters was appreciatively referred to at a meeting of the Taranaki Teachers' Institute, held in Stratford on Saturday, and the following resolution was carried; "That the Institute congratulates Mr, Masters, M.P., upon his success at the recent election."
