If the miners in the Nord and Pas de Calais districts decide upon an effective strike, which is likely, the consequences will be immediately serious, because those two distritcs provide three-fourths of France's coal supply.—Aus.-N.Z. MEN RETURNING TO WORK. Paris, May 6The French railway strike has been a failure and the men are returning to irork. , The Government's firm attitude bis crashed the strikers. Although the Government's announcement that the railway strike is as good as endfd appears premature, many men are returning to work, and there have been no extensions of the strike, but more men engaged in other industries have struck, including metal, workers | and more miners.
