SPORTS AT HAWERA.
i i CHILDREN'S FUNCTION TO-DAY. The children of Hawera and the surrounding district, will be disappointed today at the non-arrival of the Prince of ! Wales, but the sommittce in charge of the arrangements has decided to carry out the original programme, and a whole holiday will be observed. The school children will assemble at the Winter Show buildings, and led by bands, they will march over the route arranged for the Trince, to the showgrounds. Here sports will be held for South Taranaki school children, and other amusemcriTs will be provided. In the afternoon the ceremony of laying the foundation of the Hawera Technical High School will take place at 2.00 p.m., when a good attendance of the public is hoped for. The two theatres will provide free picture entertainments for the country school children. The Citizens' Band will assemble at the bandroom at noon, and the music for the children before that hour will be provided by other bands, and it is hoped the country bands will come into Hawera for the day as previously arranged.
