RAILWAY TRAGEDY.
A DISASTER IN INDIA. TERRIBLE SUFFERING. By Telegraph.—Press Ansa,—Copyright. Received April 29, 1.20 p.m. Delhi, April 28. There was a disastrous railway smash at Allahabad. The Dehra Dun express collided with a goods train from NeWanawada, and the casualties ■were «« ' timated at 150 killed and 67 injured. The carriages were overcrowded, coil* taining 300 marriage parties and fifty Gurkhas. AH the latter except seven were killed or burned to death There were several Europeans travelling. So far no one is reported killed* The first three bogdy cars were smash* ed and caught fire. Men, women, and children were pinned under the wreck* age and struggled vainly, with the flames spreading towards them. The scene of the disaster was far frdta medical relief, and the Buffering of tie injured was added to by a raging ddst storm. Among the wreckage lay it pool ot molten silver, representing pile* of rupees in Indians' baggage,-or melted bangles belonging to women victims.*-; Aub.-N-Z. Cable Assn.
