HIDE AND TALLOW REPORT. Dalgety and Co., Wellington, report under date April 24 : We held our usual fortnightly sale yesterday. when we offered a medium catalogue of tallow, hides, and calfskins to the usual bencli of buyers, and, as was anticipated before the .sale, prices all round suffered a sharp fall. ■ Reports of recent sales held at Auckland and Dunedin showed that prices had suffered a heavy fall, and this was reflected on our sale yesterday. There was fair competition for tallow at an average drop of about 4s per cwt. on last sale's rates. Bidding for hides and calfskins was slow, and the sale all through lacked animation. Heavy hides, up to freezing company standard. dropped (id per lb, and other sorts Sd. Calfskins showed tho biggest drop, the decline | running from 12d to 16d per lb.
