ROUGH AT SEA.
SMALL STEAMER SEEKS SHELTER. Heavy weather prevailed along thf VYcst Coast of New Zealand yesterday, and the sea was very rough outside New Plymouth. The "only vessel it port, the Kini, completed discharge during the day. but the captain decided not to forsake the protection of the port until tho weather moderates. A small steamer—the Kapui, 42 ton* —put in to New Plymouth about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon owing to stress of weather. The Kapni left Whanparei at f1.30 a.m. on Friday, and the little vessel with her crew of three has had a stronuons battle against the elements. Rough weather was experienced throughout the • trip, and it became partierlarlv severe the night before reaching New Plymouth, but Captain Lang brought his small craft to safety without mishap. The Kapni is bound for Waitara, hut she will remain at New Plymouth until the weather moderates.
