SEA-FRONT EROSION.
DAMAGE AT THE EAST END. The erosion at the East End beach was referred to by the borough engineer ;n a report presented to the Borough Council last night. "The repeated high seas and wind storms have again caused damage to the banks, more to the south-west than be-! fore, the result being that the. band stand is in jeopardy," wrote the engineer. "I am taking steps to protect this- The sea has made inroads to the west of the stai-.d, where the swings were erected. I have submitted a proposal to Messrs. Blair Mason and Lee, who agree that great advantage would accrue if a boulder bolster was kid along the toe of the protection work." \ smn of :C-iOO to £SOO would be required for the work. A committee comprising Crs. Hayden. Hill, and Parkin was appointed to confer with the engineer.
