MR. MASTERS' CAMPAIGN, On Saturday evening, at 7 p.m., Mr. Masters addressed the electors of Makahtt in the school-room, tlie building being comfortably filled. The audience gave the candidate a very attentive hearing, , and appeared to be particularly inter* csted in his views in regard to ithe eco« nomie questions of the day. At the eonelusion, on the motion of Mr.- A. Coyne, junr., seconded by Mr. M. Ford, the following resolution was carried unanimous v ly: "That this meeting expresses Its '• confidence in the outstanding ability of " Mr. Masters, to represent this district in Parliament."
After addressing the Makahu meeting, Mr. Masters journeyed to Strathmore and addressed about.fifty electors in the hall. Mr. D. Kemp occupied the chair. * The candidate gave a stirring address on ,the requirements of the backblocks in regard to educational facilities.
At the conclusion of the address, three hearty cheers were given to Mr. Masters, and the following resolution, moved by Mr. Dromgool, and seconded by Mr. Geo. Lamplough, was carried unanimously: "That this meeting accords Mr. Masteri thanks for his clear-cut statement in regard to the political questions of the day, and expresses every confidence in him as being most fitted to represent this district in Parliament."
MR. HINE'S CAMPAIGN. A representative gathering met Mf. Hine at Puniwhakau on Saturday. evening. Mr. Hayes presided. Mr. Hine dealt with the many problems affecting the tt clfare of 'the backblocks settlers, stress* ing the determination of the Mftssey Government to help the pioneers with the best schooling facilities, and tt) give more assistance for the mqthers with the nursing of young New Zealandere in th» ' outlying parts. Mr. Hayes moved, And Mr. Steele seconded, "That a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to Mr. Hine, and confidence in him as a representative for . the Stratford electorate." This was cat* ried without a dissentient voice. Later on Saturday evening Mr. Hino addressed an enthusiastic audience of about sixty electors at Tututawa, an.l received an excellent hearing. Mr. Jacob* son, senr., was voted to the chair. Mr. Hine dealt with the Massey Govern* ment's policy on similar lines to his Puni* ivhakau addrerss, and, at the close of the meeting, Mr. Holly moved, and Mr. Jacobson, junr., seconded: "That a vote of thanks be accorded to Mr. Hine for hit address, and that this meeting every confidence in Mr. Hino as a suitable mem* ber to be re-elected for the dirtrlot g| i Stratford."
