It is announced that the Shipowners* Federation has found it necessary, owing to the increased cost of wages, etc,, to advance the freight rates: on coastal general cargo by 4a per ton, and on produce by 3s per ton. The fares on the ferry service between Wellington ana Lyttelton, which have not. been advanced since pre-war days, have been revised, by the abolishment of return tickets from May 1. , Single tickets only, will be issued at present.
