_ A London cubic reports that Mr. William Llewellyn Dcrwen Wood has been elected a Royal Academician. A cable from Capetown says the Kev. Neville Stewart Talbot, M.C., has accepted the Bishopric of Pretoria, in succession to Dr. Eurse, the new Bishop of St. Albans.

Lieut.-Colonel C. 11. Weston and Colonel G. Home, of New Plymouth, attended the reunion dinner of'the Wellington Regiment at Palmerston North on Saturday night.

Another of Taranaki's pioneer settlers has passed away in the person of Mr. Thos. Elliot, of Waitara, whose death occurred yesterday morning at New Plymonth after a painful illness. Deceased, who was aged 75, was a son of the late Mr. Peter .Elliot, and was born on the Elliot Road, Westown. He had resided in Taranaki practically all his life and went through the Maori War. For some years he was fanning in the Tikorangi district, but has lived in retirement in Waitara for some time past. He married Mrs. Alice Black, Mcond daughter of Mr. William Black, and he is survived by his widow and one son, Mr. Morison (Mac) Elliot, of Mahoenui, and one daughter, Mrs. W- H. Nosworthy, of Waitara.

Mr. E. E. Sandford, of the staff of the Christehurch Weekly Press, has been appointed official photographer and will accompany the Royal* Party through New Zealand. Mr. SaWford is a son of Major F. W. Sandfoyd, of New Plymouth.
