MINISTER OF LANDS.
A VISIT TO INGLEWOOD, TRIP TO THE MOUNTAIN. The Hon. H. D. Guthrie, Minister ot Lands, arrived in Inglewood from Stratford about 10.30 yesterday moraing. The party was met on arrival by Mr, A. Corkill, elairman of the late Moa Road iSoard, and several members of tho Board, Messrs. J. Sutherland (Mayor of Inglewood),'! 1 - 11. Brown,' and other leading citizens of Inglewood. The Ministerial party were then driven to the Mountain House in two cars, via the Lepper Road. Others who made the trip were: Messrs. A. CorklU (chairman), J. H. Lyon, T. S. Bowler, ACowley, and J. Hunter (members of the Road Board), and Mr. J. Sutherland. The Minister, who was making hit Inst trip to the Mountain, expressed himself as delighted with the drive through the bush. Mr. Guthrie said that as long as ho was Minister of Lands he would permit of no encraaehhient on this splendid . National Reserve. This comment was made in response to a remark from Mr. Sutherland that an agitation was on foot to have the reserve reduced from a radius of 0 miles to 4 miles, by throwing open two miles additional for settlement. After being entertained to luncheon at the House, a visit was made to the various points of interest in the vicinity, incUiding the cairn a tt - n erected t° the late Mr. A. 11. Ambury. A return was then made to Inglewood, via the Egtnont Koad. and in the afternoon a number of deputations were taken. In the evening the. Minister attended the Inglewood County banquet.
