NORTH AUCKLAND OUTBREAK. By Tclesruph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. "There is a pretty widespread epidemic of inllnenza in the North, and we have accordingly decided to close the schools in Whangarei Bay of Islands, and Hokianga districts for the next week," stated Dr. Mackgill, district health officer, today. "I can say nothing about numbers, but all tho doctors in the districts named are notifying cases freely. There are ono or two serious cases, but no more than arise in the ordinary course of mild influenza." Referring to influenza among the Maoris at the Rotoma camp, Dr. Mackgill stated the cases were all very mild, more like simple colds. 'Diey i-'carcelv warranted being diagnosed as influenza Thirty-seven cases of influenza, only one being severe, were reported in the Auckland health district during the .twenty-four hours ended at noon today.
