NEW PLYMOUTH BOWLING CLUB.

A VETERAN HONORED. PRESENTATIONIXTmr. W. RUNDLE. A very ))leasant little ceremony took place on the New Plymouth bowling green on Saturday afternoon, when Mr. W. Rundie, who attained his 90th birthday, was presented .by fellow bowlers with a suitable memento to mark the occasion, and the long connection he has had with the town club.

Mr. A. K. Smart, president of the Cmb, exprersed the great pleasure it gav<} liim on such an eventful occasion to be honored with conveying to Mr. Kundle how delighted the members were to have him with Mi om still a's a playing member. He ■thought it wris most unique that at such a ripe age Mr. Kundle was still able to enjoy his game. Such incidents were rare in New Zealand bowline The president made graceful mention of Mr Kundle s sterling qualities as a player nnd referred to the earlier years of'his membership, when he distinguished himself by winning on various occasions the Uub Championships. In handing to him the memento from the Club (which consisted of useful gifts) he wished Mr. Rundie every happiness, and trusted that lie would long to spared to play the game he so much loved.

Mr. R. Cock, one of the oldest members of the Club, in his characteristic fashion, recited his early recollections of Mr. Rundle, and stated that even now the veteran could give some of the younger members a very good game. He trusted that Mr. Rundle would live for many years to associate with members of the Club, who would always be delighted to see him on the green. Mr. Rundle feelingly responded, and thanked the members for their kindly consideration. Three hearty cheers were called for Our friend William," and were heartily responded to. The president intimated that the committee had made Mr. W. Rundle a life member of the Club.
