THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Fltzroy Rate-! payors' Association took p : aco last night in the Public Hail. There was a fair attendance, Mr. E. Griffiths presiding. The report find balance-sheet woro present- 1 od by line secretary (Mr. 0. ,lohn3on). The chairman, in moving the adoption, referred to the very useful work the association, had dr.ne during the year, and also urged all the ratepayers to take a keener interest in the affairs of tho association and the, borough generally. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. A number of ratepayers expressed .strong dissatisfaction that tho Borough Council had not yet evicted a tramway shelter at tho Strandon stopping place. Further discussion took place on the question of acquiring a portion of Reserve 97 on j the foreshore adjacent to Fitzroy, as a recreation ground and public park, and the, executive was expressly directed to urge the, Kornugh Council to do all In Its power to I secure a suitable area of the reserve from j the Harbor Board. j A resolution was also carried urging the | Council to put the footpaths in proper re- 1 •pair, especially in the vicinity of the school, before the coming winter. Officers were elected as follows: President. Mr. K L. Parkin; secretary, Mr. 0. .lonnson; executive committee, Messrs. Falrhall, Ivibby, Pearee, Stud, and Griffiths. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the meeting.
