The first white male child to be born in Auckland died on Monday, in the person of Mr. Charles Burrell Stone, who had been ill for some time. He was born on March 27, IS4I, and had, therefore, just entered upon his 80th year. The late Mr. Stone, who was a son of Captain .lames Stone, was educated at the Wesley College, Auckland. At the time of the gold fever, in IR.t2, the family left for Australia in the first steamer built in Auckland, the Governor Wvnyard. They leturned to Auckland three years later, and Mr. Stone entered into business with his fut her as a general merchant, becoming a partner in the firm in ISBS. Thirteen vessels were employed by the firm, and it was then the larsest shipping business in Auckland- Mr. Stone sold liis interest in the linn in 1S!)3, and carried on business for many years as a mining and land asent. Mr. Stone was twice married and had a family of four children by his first wife and one daughter by his second wife, who survives him. The funeral took place at O'Xeil's Point .Caipetoij Devpnpqrt,
