All feats free.— * At tlie Manaia Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, E. Mickey and John Gee were charged with breaking shop windows, and the same defendants, with W. Maclirav, were charged with breaking and entering and stealing jewellery valued at £lO los from a shop. For the defence it was stated tlmt the young men had been 011 a spree after a sports meeting and tin-canning and were prepared to make restitution. They were convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon, and were ordered to pay ,I':H 7s at the rate of £,"> a month. A neal but seldom seen appreciation fr> a candidate at. a political meeting was witnessed at, Jnglcwood on Tuesday evening last, when, during his speech, Mr. 'Masters wns the recipient of a beautiful bouquet of flowers from a lady in the audience. This graceful act was received with marked appreciation from the crowd assembled. The member for TCgmnnt, Mr. Hawken, M.P., has made arrangements to secure a visit to the Eltham district, of the Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister for Public Works, and he is expected to arrive there on Wednesday next. He will be taken over the route of the OpunakcTe TJoti line of railway, and will meet, deputations while he is there.
