TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

TRANSFERS OF LAXD. A meeting of tlie Taranaki Land Board was held on Wednesday and yesterday. Present: Messrs. G. H. Billiard (chairman), J. Reslop, N. R. Cleland, and J. W. H. Martin. Application to transfer Reetion 4, Block 111., Piopiotea West S.D. from W. West to G. N. Burteiisliiiw, and an alternative application to P. Sherman, was deferred to next meeting-, when the parties concerned will be required to appear before the Board. A transfer of Section 14, Block V„ Olmra, from G. C. Stevenson to F. H. Kelly, was approved. The transfer of Section 38, Block VI., Huiroa, from J. M. Hair to E. A. Grigg, was approved. The transfer of Section 3, Block 111., Mapara S.D. from O'Knefe and Frac to O'Keefe and Boswell, was refused. H. F. Kirk is to be granted a year to year tenancy of Section 31, Block XI., Mapara, subject to one month's notice of termination of tenancy at a rental to be assessed. Be renewal of lease of Section 40, Block VI., Ngaire, it was resolved that the previous resolution be rescinded, and leasee be informed that the Board will grant a renewal, subject to the immediate clearing of noxious: weeds, and to Iris residing on and working the section himself on the expiry of the sublease, the question of future rentals to be fixed twelve months before expiration of present lease.

Two applications for mortgages over Education reserve leases were approvedThe transfer of Section 1">, Tututawa Settlement, from W. G. Epping to H. Johnson, was forwarded to Wellington for action. DISCHARGED SOLDIERS' BUSINESS. Nineteen applications for rural lands were recommended, 13 refused, and 11 deferred for various causes. Ten applications for the purchase of houses were recommended, two refused, and two deferred. Two applications for town sections and four applications for the erection of buildings were recommended, two refused, and one held over. Ten applications for stock were recommended, three applications for payment of mortgages, and three applications for refunds of valuation fees, ,were similarly treated,
