MR. MASTERS' CAMPAIGN. The following has Keen supplied: "That this meetitig expresses its resentment at the method of the Reform Party in the unsportsmanlike action it took to unseat Mr. Masters, and herewith expresses its confidence in that gentleman a-'- its representative for Parliament, believing that the time has arrived when men with vigor and ability to watch the interests of the people should he returned," was the resolution passed by the meeting of electors at Durham Road on Wednesday night, after Mr. .Masters' aide address, the. speaker holding his audience attentively during the whole of his address. Mr. Masters stated that lie was not in favor of the Government taking over the mnin arterial roads. If the progress of the Stratfoi'd-Okahukiira line was an indication of the policy of the Government then it would be a had day for the roads of the Dominion if thev were placed under CliVveromoi't control. The County Council would eons'ruct and maintain the arterial roads much more economically than the Government. Tie favored an increased subsidy Win?'paid to local bodies for the upkeep of the main roads so that the rates collected from settlers on bv-roads could be spent, on their own particular roads. Further, on account of the great damage done to the roads by motor cars on account of race meetings, he would favor the totalizator tax being handed over to local bodies for the upkeep of main arterial roads.
