TO RE-ESTABLISH TRADE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, April 13. The House of Commons agreed to a Government resolution in favor of authorising Government credits not exceeding 20 millions to re-establish oversea trade. Mr. Bridgemnn i-aid it was deaired to help countries crushed by' the war. British trade would benefit and we would be able to extend our trade interests in various countries. He pointed out that the United States had made a similar provision of 101)0 million dollars. The credits will be limited (o British firms and the business will be done through the big banks. Hitherto only a small sum lias been advanced, mainly in respect of textiles, iron, steel, rubber, leather and electrical goods, RENTS IK BRITAIN. London, April 12. The Jlailf News savs that the Salisbury Committee which has been inquiring into rent restriction recommends an increase in rents upon a graduated -cale spread over three years, leading to a maximum increase of 40 per cent, over pre-war figures. No increase in rent should be permitted if the house is not maintained in proper repair.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
