THE PRINCE AND RUGBY.

' (To the Editor.) Sir,—Would you want mo a little apace In your much rend paper to endeavour to further the suggestion of Cr. Len McKenzle In a letter to a Wellington paper, .in which he considers that a point has been missed in suitably entertaining His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales by not submitting a contest In our national game, Rugby football. I am personally in absolute accoTd with the suggestion In view of the fact that our Prince took a keen interest in Rugby during the war and since when New Zealand had the opportunity of furthering this sport in England It has had the desired effect, as in a recent cablegram it stated that a meeting of the International Committee would shortly be called for the amending of Rugby rules as played by New Zealand. This sport is growing In England,- and the Prince Is a keen supporter. As the Tar.inakl rep- . resentative team will be a serious rival In the challenge shield this year, I suggest that they get Into touch with their headquarters and offer to placu a team,ln the field to oppose the winners of tie King's Cup ot any other team. This match, of course, could not he played here, but It would fittingly become the sporting element of Taranaki to at least offer to compete, and would tend to strengthen the proposal of Councillor McKenzle— I am, etc., EX-SOLDIER SPORT.
