Mr. J. M, Wilson, stationmaster at Paekakariki, lias been appointed stationmaster at Patea. Captain Prietor, who was military landing officer at Wellington for some time, and who proceeded to Samoa to fill an important position, is returning to New Zealand. Mr. Thomas Carley, third son of Mr. C. Carley, of Cardiff, was married to Miss Constance Smith, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Smith, of Cardiff, at Christehurch on Thursday last. Inspector Boddam (formerly chief detective at Wellington), who went to Samoa to fill the important position of Inspector of Police, under the administration in Samoa, ia returning to the Dominion. The many friends of the Eev. J. A. Luxford will regret to learn that his health is inamostunsatisfaetory state| Mr. Luxford,*who lost a leg at Gallipoli while acting as chaplain with the New Zoalanders, and who subsequently was chaplain in England, returned to N T ew Zealand recently. Mr. and Mrs- W. O'Callaghan left Hawera yesterday for a trip round the world. They are going to the East, via Sydney, visiting India. China, and Japan, and then continuing through America to the Old Country and Europe. It is their intention to be away about two years. Mr. Vickford, chairman of the Danne-virke-Waipukurau Hospital Board, who lias been staying at the Mountain House, was a visitor to New Plymouth yesterday. Ho was shown over the New Plymouth Hospital by the chairman of the Taranaki Board.

A Christeliurch message reports the death of Dr. Courtney Jfedwill, ageil S3. He was one of the early medical practitioners in Christeliurch". He eame to New Zealand in 1803 and was one of the surgeons to the hospital for over 30 years. He also held the position of Health Officer for Christeliurch district. Outside his practice he was prominently associated with rifle shooting, cricket, and lawn tennis, having been president of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association for many years. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. McDougall celebrated 011 Easter Sunday the jubilee of their wedding in the Church of StTames the Less in London. Mr. McDougall is editor of the Napier Telegraph, and with his wife has spent 48 years in New Zealand. At a gathering yf relatives and friends, which included six sons and their wives, the eldest son, on behalf of the family, gave Mrs. McDougall a well-filled purse- with which to select her own golden wedding present. Various) gifts were also made. The llev. T, K. Richards, when proposing the health of the bride and bridegroom, touched upon the fact that all six sons were present, including those who had safely returned from the front. There were four generations present at the function, including nine grandchildren. Mrs. K. ,1. Smith, of Auckland, sister of Mrs. McDougall, was present at the gathering, accompanied by her husband. Mr. McDougall, chief engineer at tho Tarnmtki Fanners' Meat Works, is a son and was present, at the celebrations.
