EX-COLONIAL SOLDIERS. ON THE'VERGE OF STARVATION. <B? Telegraph.—Press, Assc—Copyrlgnt. Received April 11, 5.5 p.m. London, April A. The distress among Australian discharged soldiers awaiting return passages is becoming acute, and a number of men are on the verge of starvation. The Anzae'Buffet Fund is unable to more than give a small dole to many discharged men, who are averse to charity in view of the fact that they are entitled to a gratuity. The Canadian authorities are ooping with a somewhat similar situation. They are providing men who are awaiting shipment with board and lodgings, and are charging it against payment i to which the recipients are entitled. A plan akin to this is needed to relieve the Aus-tralians.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
