Doughs. the chalrmun reported that the touncil had recognised its responsibility i with regard to the drainage on the boundary I road. it was for tho Borough. engineer to I say where the water should be taken. With regard to. tho Waihi ltoad, the foreman was of the opinion that lie would be able to do i the work in the winter They had been trying hard to obtain boulders or stone from Plymouth, but so far without success. : lhey might tlud it advisable to obtain metal from Belmont. This metal was very hard and flinty, and had been used by the Borough. It was resolved to urge upon the Govern*■ ment the necessity for completing the line a nu °^ en^n S up tho Mt. Bgmont quarry. j Tho Walpa County Council forwarded for! endorsement a resolution re vigorous Immigration. It was decided to support the resolution. j The Hawera Borough Council wrote asking the Council to appoint three r(|prosentatives to work in conjunction with tho Borough respecting the development of Turuturu-Mokal reserve.—Cra. Lysaght, Linn an 4 Douglas were appointed. Mr. L. M. Fryer wrote complaining that surface water from the road deluged his property at Inaha during heavy rain., The chairman said the water was following Its natural course. The Town Clerk, New Plymouth, wrote re giving evidence at the inquiry into the laranaki County Council's by-law to wheel tax The chairman ffhd Cr. Hawken were nppointed to give evidence. The Wellington Petrol Sub-Committee nolifled, under date Mnrcli 29, that it had been decided to allocate the Council twenty cases or petrol. Tho chairman said tho twenty cases liad not arrived, and all they had had for the past month was ten oases. They had tried without success io get further supplies, and in consequence of this their machines had been idle. This was tho second time they had been held up, and they had lost thrca weeks at an fmportant time of the year. They ■ wero not regarded as essential users and were ; not even scheduled. I It was decided to write to the Petrot Control Committee pointing out that the methods of distribution wero unsatisfactory, | and urging the need for an improvemen.
FOREMAN'S REPORT. , A - Mu sserldge reported as follows: Allen Road.—Tho metalling is nearlng completion. Tonguhoe Bridge, Main South Road—Tlie tar sprayer broke one of the hanging beams, ■ made or toura and very brittle, on this bridge on Wednesday. The carpenter 13 work ng on it now and a new one will bo in position to-aa.v. With regard to this bridge it seems very unsatisfactory since tho Hood and is always giving trouble. The building ot a new one will have to ho fuced within the next year or so. Main South Road, Mokoia.—A start has Bean made tarring this road, and a length from khe bridge i 0 the creek just this aide of MoKoia has been covered. Nonnanto-.OHaiawa Roa4--Tlids road lias been tarred from the Hastings ltoad to tin; Normanby town boundary, with the exception of two or three lengths, which will h;n ° to be refaeed with metal before It is lit to take the tar. , «,^ he n t!lr .
