BELL BLOCK.
PRESENTATION TO MR. AND MRS. DOWNS, (From A Correspondent.) The members and friends of the Bell Block Hall Association celebrated the coming of age of that body on Thursday evening! During the evening dancing was interspersed with vocal and elocutionary items, Messrs. Geo. King and Chas. Barribal acted as M.C.'s. Mrs. George's orchestra, comprising piano, violin, and cornet, was responsible for the musicMisses Giddy and Hilda Bishop, and Mr. F. J. Eggleton kindly played extras. Misses Cocker, Bennett, Hilda Bishop, Messrs. Norman Day, Hartman, and F. f. Eggleton provided Vocal and other items.
Immediately prior to the supper adjournment, Mr. J. M. Oonnett extended a hearty welcome to all present, and reviewed the history of the association. He expressed gratification at having with them that evening, the instigator of the whole matter, Air. Edward King, who not only at its beginning, but up till his departure from the district, did his utmost to further the affairs of the hall- He also paid a high tribute of praise, to Mr. J. W. Downs, who has been secretary (and a good deal more) of the association for the last seventeen years, adding, that on the Hall's majority the members felt they must recognise in some way the many efforts that gentleman had put forth for their benefit and to their advantage. He presented Mr. and Mrs. Downs with a silver tea and coffee service, together with a well-filled wallet. Mr. Down suitably replied.
