THE FEAR OF SOCIALISM.
LABOR UNDjSR SUSPICION. London, March 19. Mr. Winston Churchill, Secretary of State for War, writing in the London JSvening News on "Why I support Lloyd Oroor.ce," says:—The Socialist party constitutes the darkest and most formidable menace, now that German militarism is crushed, the British civilisation has confronted. Speaking broadly, no real line of cleavage in general principles and practical legislation exists throughout the whole area of the non-Socialist forces of Britain. Mr- J. Sexton, a Labor M.P., says that there has always been an extreme So-, ciajist wing in the Labor Party, but it, is small and will get smaller. Labor does not love Bolshevik practices, as the vote against direct action showed. Despite the Prime Minister, Labor will have double its present membership in the next House of Commons. Mr. .T. M. Hogge, a Liberal MP., says that the Prime Minister has raised ' a smoke screen to cover his designs, The free Liberals should now run their own candidates for every seat, and they probably will.
