PROLONGATION OF LIFE.
A STARTLING PROPHECY. London, March 25. The correspondent of the Times at New York states that Dr. Eugene Fisk, well-known American physician and author of medical works, at the annual meeting of the Medical Society, prophesied the ability of science to prolong life for 1!)00 years. The life of the fruit-fiy had been stretched 900-i'old, as the result of researches. "Youth is a physical state, not a function of time," said Dr. Fisk. Old age always comes prematurely in cases where typhoid and tuberculosis are present. The antagonists to long life include heredity, infection, poison, food deficiency, food excess, fear, grief, emotional excess, psychic apathy, due to, lack of life, interest, and physical 'col' lapse, always due to a cumulative effect. .Science is eliminating these conditions, and hopes to do to iuo.n the same as to the fruit-fly,
