A DROVER'S DEATH.
I WIDOW RECEIVES COMPENSATION. By Tolegrunh—Press Association. '' Christchurch, Last Night. R The Arbitration Court awarded the n widow of a Soutli Canterbury drover, e who was thrown from his horse and j killed, £SOO compensation and ex- , penses. t [ One of the defences raised was that „ the action was barred by the Workers' i» Compensation Act, as it had not been 0 brought within six months from the date i, of death. The Court, in holding against ii the defendants on this point, attributed n the lapse of time before the action was s brought to be no fault of plaintiff, but to ■ delay on the part of tiie Public Trust e officials, who were originally acting for • the widow, in dealing with the matter. The Judge commented in very strong terms upon this delay on the part of the Government Department. .1 ■ .
