STRATFORD BY-ELECTION.
MAJOR HINE'S CAMPAIGN. Major Hine will address the electors at Te Wera to-night, Midhirst to-mor-row night, and at the Durham Road School on Saturday night. All meetings commence at 8 o'clock. The following report has been contributed:—Major, Hine had a great reception at his Kohuratahi meeting on Tuesday night, over one hundred electors being present. Mr. Norman Cleland occupied the chair. In regard tc the much-voiced charges that the Reform* Party was blind to the educational requirement* of the Dominion, Major Hine explained that £75,000 extra grant was passed Inst year to this Department. A hearty vote of thanks, and renewed confidence in him, was moved by Mr. Moir, seconded by Mr. McCartie, and carried unanimously. After bis address, a strong committee of fifty ladies and gentlemen was formed, to further his cause. The Inglewood district workers met on Wednesday afternoon, and reports from outlying districts show most encouraging signs of increased activity throijgh the Junction Road and Tarlkl districts. Major Hine's Inglewood Supporters are putting every ounce into tho campaign to place him'at the head of the poll. On Friday next the lady organiser will address a meeting.of ladies at the Parish Hall, Inglewood. MR. R. MASTERS' CAMPAIGN. -' : Mr. Robert Masters will address the electors at Ngacre to-night: at Waitui, to-morrow night, and at the Pohokura. School on Saturday night. All meetings commence at 8 o'clock.
