THE NEW ASSEMBLY. LABORITES PREPARING TO TAKE OFFICE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright, » , „ Sydney, April 6. _ iHough the new Assembly is described as being composed of 45 Labor and 45 anti-Labor members, the former Includes three Independent Liborites and the latter 12 Progressives. The position is interesting, and there is much speculating regarding the results of to-dav's party meeting. It is understood that Mr. Holman is determined, to recommend that Mr.' Storey be sent for to form a Ministry, while some of Mr. Holman's colleagues favor the meeting of Parliament, throwing upon new members the responsibility for changing the Government. The question is which party will supply the Speaker, thereby placing itself in a minority. Whether some of the Progressives are detachable from the Government, or whether any Independent Labor member will be prepared to support the Government is causing some en- j gineering.
The indications are that-the Lahorites anticipate securing support and are preparing to take office. It is reported that Mr. Holman does not seek election but retires from politics, at least for tlie time.
