Sir,—At a meeting of the Olympic Council for New Zealand held on the S2ncl. ult., at which delegates representing the New y.enliilid Lawn Tennis, Knwing, Amateur Athletic, Boxing and ••iw.siiming Associations were liresent, it was resolved that a team of New Zealand athletes be sent to compete at the Tilth Olympiad which takes place at Antwerp (Belgium) in August next. Owing to the great expense and the numerous appeals which have been made to the general nubile (luring the- last few years, also to the very short Lime In which to raise Uia money, for the team will have la leave New Zealand at the end of April nr the beginning of May, my Council decided to endeavout to enlist the sympathy of the leading newspapers through the Dominion and ask their co-operation and assistance by opening lists in their various offices. -My Council, recognising the great benefit yom papei has been In the cause of amateur aport In the past, lias instructed tne to conniiunirale with you anil auk if you will assist in its appeal for funds to have New Zealand adequately represented at the Olyinpii games by consenting to the enclosed list being placed in your office. The aiaiount required to send a team is approximately £.'i!iO per man, and my Council has no doubt that with the hearty co-operation of your valued papei a sum sufficient to send a team of say four or five will be raised without difficulty. A tentative team has been nominated us follows, viz.. Swimming, Misses Violet Walrond (Auckland), Gwltha Sluind, and Mr. C. Atkinson (Chrlstcluirch); rowing, liadfleld (Auckland), athletic events, Davidson (Auckland), Wilson (Wellington), and Lindsay. The latter athlete will be In Scotland about the time fixed for the games and Ills services will be available at a very little expense.
