CLYDESDALE SOCIETY.

MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. A meeting of Council of the Clydesdale Horse Society of the Dominion of New Ztalaml was held at Aahburton, on the Kth of March. . There were present: Messrs. ,T. D. Wyllie, Seftnn (president) ; .lames Blrtles, Wnlkouaiti; W. (1 Park, Te Awamutu; C' C. Thomson, DunaUu: W. .1. Taylw, Ashton; J. Shearer. Asliburton; L Bremer. Obiiawa; It. Kennedy, Druminond; ,1. A. Johnstone, Dunedln; .1. W. Harding, Waipukurau; D. G. Wright, Windermere; and A. Hunter, Hawera. Apologies were received from Messrs. L. R. Hamilton, Jianutahl; A. E. Harding Mangilwli.ire; J, Gow, Mosgiel; and H.' Logan. Otaraa.

The British Clydesdale Horse .Society notified the grant of four gold medals per annum to bo awarded to am res and stallions registered In the Clydesdale Stud Book. The society also Intimated that the medal competitions at. Ashburlnn A. and P. Show, not haiing hoei! in order, it could not seo Its way to stand to the grant.. A deputation from the Asliburton A. and P. Association waited upon Ihe Council and discussed the. position regarding these medals. Messrs O. C. Thomson and ,T. A Johnstone offered to hear the cost, of supplying silver medals struct; with the society's die.

Mr. Christian, on behalf of the deputation, expressed (heir thanks for this solution of tho difficulty, which, it was believed, would be gratefully received by the Asliburton A. and P. Association. Messrs Thomson and Johnstone were thanked for their generous offer.

On the notice of motion-by Mr. Quentln Donald, moved In his absence by Mr. ,T. W. Harding, It was decided that In competitions at A and I*. Shows for the society's medals, the regulation confining competition to "local members" be struck out.

Messrs. P. Martin, P. C. Ward, and C. Harrison were elected members. Accounts amounting to £55 2s 7d were passed for payment, and other routine business attended to.

The annual meeting Is to be held at Dunedln during the Winter Show which eventuates In the first week of June. (
