STRATFORD BY-ELECTION.

MR. MASTERS AT TE WERA. The following has been contributed:— It. was an enthusiastic audience that met Mr. Masters to hear his second address in connection witn the political contest for the Stratford seat. The candidate spoke on similar lines to his previous speeches, and his expressed opinions seemed to be in accord witn >.>" audience, if the heart;- applause wit It which they were greeted could be taken as an indication. At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Kidd moved, and Mr. Garlick seconded: "That this meeting expresses its regret tnat the Reform Party should attempt to secure a seat in such an unsportsmanlike manner as was done by the recent petition in trying to unseat Mr. Masters. It further expresses the opinion that it has confidence in Mr. Masters as the member for Stratford." The resolution was carried unanimously. In acknowledging a vote of thanKs, the chairman, Mr. D. Kemp, stated that he felt he must congratulate Mr. Masters on his temperate language in his address, and for the total absence of personal abuse or personalities.
