ST. JOHN'S v. NEW PLYMOUTH. This annual Easter fixture was played on Ihe New Plymouth green on Saturday morning, the visitors winning by three points' Scores were as follow: Haywood, (ioodey, Simpson, Stephenson (a), 23; v. Washer Cock, Wood. Johnson (s) 10. McCarthy, Allison. Martin. Armstrong is), 20; v. Hooper, Phillips, Firth, H. Smart (s), 22. Upton, Hunger, J.. Christie, H. Christ'e (si 28; v. Goldwater, Bellringer, Luscorabe. s»-nii'. (s), 15.

Mr. H. Christie suitably replied on behalf of the visitors, who sang some of their songs after which cheers were exchanged.
ST. JOHN'S V. FITZROY. The one day in the bowling season that is always thoroughly enjoyed bv Fitzroy players Is when the St. John's bowlers nay their usual Easter visit. Not. only is play keen. But there is an element of intense sociability while the inimitable way in which the proceedings are enlivened by concerted musical items is a source of additional pleasure Last year the visitors brought with them a "banner for competition. They lost, but took the trophy back to have It mounted and on Saturday afternoon Mr. Christie produced the banner" (a small flag), which now forms the centre ornament on an oak shield around which arc silver plates whereon are inscribed the names of the victorious team each year. In presenting the shield, to Fitzrov, after the visitors had been cordially corned. Mr Christie remarked that aithou-h Fltzroy's name appeared first on the shield the second inscription was ear-marked for "R».r°M n 5j f .. ,V 0- After slnsin S tlle Battle Song, play commenced, the result being a win for Fitzroy by 1!) points 'At the close of the game compliments were exchanged and cheers given, also further singing, by request.
