BANISH CRISIS.

TROOPS READY FOR TROUBLE.

DISORDER SPREADING,

By Telegraph—Prers Assn.—Copyright.

Received April 4, 5.5 p.m.

Copenhagen, April. 2. The negotiations between the Cabinet and the Social Democrats have broken down.

Ex-Premier Zahle has promised to support his successor and discourage a general strike on condition that his successor meets Parliament before the dissolution.

There was a great run on bakers' shops, which were soon without bread, without any present prospect of new supplies. Ball cartridges were served to the troops, who were warned that they must use arms against disorder if necessary. There is some apprehension regarding the non-coms., who are reported to be disaffected.

The new Cabinet will issue a notice calling up the remaining military classes for service in the Schleswig zone, and the notice will be effective on the oth inst,, when a general strike is due to reach a climax. Although the general strike is due for the 6th inst., the Sailors' and Firemen's Union has already stopped, and coastal traffic is at a standstill. The printers ; and technical staffs of several newspapers have also struck. The general strike will not affect the waterworks, hospitals, police, fire brigades, and co-operative concerns.

The Democratic newspapers state the strikers' demands include improved labor conditions, the speedy convocation of Parliament, and the release of Syndicalists.

The King, replying to a deputation from the Co-op»sative Trade Unions, said he and his Ministers were endeavoring to solve the situation. The conferences were continuing, and he would eventually invite the co-operation of representatives of the workers.—Au's.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
