WELLINGTON CUSTbMS. DUTY. By TelegTaph.—Press Assoclntlun. Wellington, Last Night. Last month the Customs revenue collected at the port of Wellington amounted to £104,155 13s Ud, compared with £127,474 Is for the corresponding period twelve months ago. Last month's figures are a record for the port, and probably a record for the DomiiTion, the previous best total here being in January of this year, when £147,533 14s Sd waR paid as duties. The beer duty collected last month totalled £42BS .Is 4d, as compared with £2048 lis for March, 1918. MEAT COMPANY'S STEAMER. ( Gisborne, Last Night. The Poverty Bay Meat Company's steamer Admiral Codrington reached Gisborne this morning, and was inspected by a number of the company's shareholders. Mr. W. D. Lysnar, chairman of directors, informed the Press that it was anticipated that the vessel would make over two trips to England each year, and would trade direct between Gisborne and the West of England. He was not able to state definitely the cost of the insulation work done at Auckland in converting the tramp into a refrigerating steamer.

A BURGLAR'S CHILD. .Wellington, March 31. Edward Alfred Foreman, who is serving a sentence for burglary, strenuously opposed an application in the Supreme Court to-day for a decree absolute in a divorce ease in which ftvs wife, Violet Foreman, was petitioner. Respondent said it would be foolish for him to ask for the custody of the child, but he had made several oilers, in one instance a slim of ,L4flO, for the support of the child, so that the child mijiht not be taken from the Dominion. Mr. Justice Hosking granted the decree absolute, reserving his decision concerning the cn»tody of the child.
