During the faster holidays, advertisements and items for publication left at the railway bookstall, Stratford, will receive attention. To-day being the anniversary of Taranaki, the banks of Stratford were closed. The King's Cinema Theatre will not be open on Good Friday night. Six patients—a father, mother, and four children—were admitted to the isolation ward at the Stratford Hospital, suffering from a mild form of influenza. Mr. C. D. Sole will be the Taranaki representative at the bi-ennial conference of Oddfellows' Lodges in Auckland. He leaves for the northern city on Friday morning.
The following are the names of the Stratford pupils to whom Intermediate Certificates have been issued by the Education Department. With commendable enterprise, Mr. C. H. Fox is arranging a series of dance.? and entertainments to lie lield in the Town Hall, of which he is now the lessee. Weekly dances will be held on Saturday and Thursday evenings, commencing on April ;ird and Bth respectively. A special dance attraction has been arranged by Sir. Fox for Easter Slonday night, and dancing will last from 8 p.m. till 2 a.m. At all of these functions Fox's orchestra will be in attendance. and the latest music will be played. An innovation at the dances will be Mrs. Barker's ice cream and soft drinks stall. The floor at the Town Hall has recently been polished, and is now stated to Dc in excellent condition for dancing. There was a good attendance at St. Andrew's Presbyterian fiiuivh last evening, when a harvesl thank giving social and auction sale of produce was held. Sir. r. J. Ijamrtsoii ollieialcd as auctioneer, iind obtained good prices for the fruit., flowers and vegetables put up for sale, ;i 4011 i case of dessert apples fetching L'.'Js. The fof ill amount realised by the sale was ,€(> Ifis fid. During the evening, songs were contributed by Sliss Jackson and Messrs G. Sanne and H. L. Belts, »nd Sirs. Phillips gave an amusing rending'. At the conclusion of the social, votes of thanks were accorded all who had assisted at the function. Light refreshments were handed round by the ladies during the evening.
