£IOOO PARK EFFORT.
TO-NIGHT'S CONCERT. What amounts to the first call in the appeal for £IOOO towards improving the grounds of Pukekura Park is to be made to-night, when an entertainment will be given in the Empire Theatre at 7.50 A splendid programme has been arranged, tho assistance of a number of leading local artists having been willingly given for this worthy object. The bill is a sufficiently varied one to appeal to all classes of the community, and an enjoyable evening is assured all those who patronise the concert. They will also have the added satisfaction of having assisted in some measure in the scheme of improving the Park, which Is, in fact, a national asset.
Already there have been verv general rxpressions of satUfaction that "the Park Board Ims decided on a progressive policy of some magnitude, and hopes are entertained that (lie effort will result in more definite and regular support for this public body which will enable it to continue the development and improvement of the grounds under its care, and make them second to none in the Dominion. •
